Hi, how’s summer treating you? There’s so much going on in our city and the world, it’s been difficult to focus on anything else. Parenting feels like both an important focus and a distraction right now. Raising kind, thoughtful humans is the very small part I feel like I can do, and what I always go back to when I feel such hopelessness. It’s complicated and emotional and if you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, I’m with you.

We’ve been sharing peeks about the next phase of Playdate and posted the link to a feedback poll via IG stories last week. If you filled it out, thank you!! It truly helps so much. I love knowing what you all are searching for in a dream space. It also really helps to know what neighborhoods most of our audience live in when scouting locations. If you missed it, here’s the LINK. To be honest, I didn’t set out planning for Playdate to be a physical space, but as we’ve been growing I keep seeing an opportunity for a family space that offers something different. The idea of a home for our events is really exciting to me. I want this to be a place for everyone which means feedback is needed and welcomed every step of the way.

📍 Altadena
Thursday 6/26 Head to Altadena Library at Loma Alta Park for Seed Library Grand Opening. Enjoy a seed swap, fruit flavored cookies, lemonade, garden journal giveaways and a presentation by Nina Raj on seed sharing! (3pm - 4:30pm)

📍 West Adams
Saturday 6/28 Check out Play Day Block Party’s National Day of Play. The all-ages event includes interactive sports, live music, great food, art, community booths, giveaways and much more. There will be individual play stations and games for youth, pro team mascots, dancing in the streets, food trucks and a DJ. (10am - 3pm)

📍 Malibu
Sunday 6/29 Don’t miss Family Day at The Barn at Cielo Farms in Malibu. While The Barn is typically 21 and over, all ages are invited to stop by on Family Day! Enjoy scenic views, yard games, wood fired pizza and fun for all ages. (1pm - 8pm)

📍 Pasadena
Sunday 6/29 Enjoy live music at Jazz in The Park presented by Playhouse Village. This free community-focused event is fun for the whole family. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and let the kids dance. Happening every Sunday now through July! (6pm - 8pm)

📍 Monrovia
Sunday 6/29 Check out Summer Kick Off Mini Market at Grey & Cash. This community gathering offers local curated brands and maker’s including one of our favorites, Soul Maison. Support a local custom airbrush artist, curated thrift vendors and a kid-powered lemonade stand - adorable! (4pm - 9pm)
