It’s our last week of summer before my kids start school!! I can’t lie, I’m happy that we all get to go back to a solid routine and I get a little bit more time back. But of course I’m sad about the changes and all that comes with it. They both seem excited so I’m rolling with that energy. Lately, my bandwidth has gone entirely into getting this newsletter out each week, so I’m looking forward to diving back into work and building all that we’ve been planning.
We also quietly launched Playdate SF last week!! If you have parents friends in the Bay please share! They can sign up for the weekly newsletter HERE.
We have a fall Community Playdate we’ve been planning (coming up on 9/20!). The rsvp page will go live this month - keep an eye out!

📍 Hollywood
Wednesday 8/13 Our faves at Soul Maison are popping up at Go Play Lab (a play space in Hollywood) so you can shop their latest collection just in time for back to school. Go Play Lab will be offering Free Open Play All Day to celebrate! (9am - 7pm)
📍 Pasadena
Friday 8/15 Huntington Gardens is one of our favorite spots in the city so I was really excited to learn about their summer movie series out on the Libray Lawn. Summer Movie Nights: Robin Hood will offer pre-show hands-on activities created to park creativity and imagination for all ages. Bring blankets + lawn chairs to sit out on the grass. Popcorn and desserts will be available for purchase. (7pm check in, movie at 8pm)
📍 Long Beach
Friday 8/15 Stop by Itty Bitty Play Committee for Itty Bitty Play Day - an open house stay and play event. Children will enjoy messy, sensory-rich play, while grown-ups learn more about our nature play-based pedagogy (learning through nature) and child-led approach to Kindergarten readiness. For ages 2.5-5. (10am - 12pm)
📍 Griffith Park
Saturday 8/16 Don’t miss Bob Baker Marionette Theater Show & Puppet Craft: Family Fun Day happening at The Autry. The show, Something to Crow About! showcases a colorful cast of barnyard friends. Kids will craft their own puppet character to take home with them. (10am - 2pm)
📍 Mar Vista
Sunday 8/17 Don’t miss The Maslon Group’s Annual School Supply Drive happening at Love Coffee. You bring the backpack, they’ll provide the supplies to fill it. This is a super cute giveback opportunity for kids and the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market is nearby to hit up after. RSVP at [email protected]. (9am - 10:30am)
*These aren’t ALL the family-friendly events happening this week in and around LA, just the best (IMO). We keep it short and curated—follow on IG + TT for more!
