April 9th—here's where I'm taking my kids this week(end)

Pokémon Pop Up Concert, Space Day at Griffith & Spring Festival at LACSD

Our free weekly email keeps you in the loop of local kid-friendly events and things to do 🤝

Know a parent who’s always asking what to do with their kids? Forward this to them — or tell them to subscribe here!

Over 500 of you have RSVP’d to Pedal for The Planet Playdate!!! We hit capacity 3 times so far and are opening more spots as we can. Thank you guys for continuing to be as excited as we are about our events. Each one gets bigger and better and it’s all thanks to you showing up! It’s going to be such a FUN day, not sure if I’m more excited to plant dye a cotton bandana with Blue Hour Goods, walk through the immersive Flutterby activation pop-up, or hang at Souvenir of The Sunday for hours - truly one of our favorite stores in the city. Also, don’t miss The Alchemistress photo pop up. Last time I got to book with her was 2 years ago at Malibu Chili Cook Off so I’m extra excited that we get host her at our event. A few spots left if you want to snag a photo session (prebook required)!

If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, add your name to the waitlist HERE!!

📍 Claremont
Children’s Woodland Opening at California Botanic Garden
Friday, April 11th (10am - 3pm)
The Children’s Woodland at the California Botanic Garden officially opens this weekend, and it looks really cute. Even with the forecasted rain, it says they’ll be open rain or shine. They’ll have story time, crafts and nature walks for families. The new Sage Gallery exhibit featuring artwork by local kids looks like a must.

📍 Little Tokyo
Pokémon Pop-Up Concert at Little Tokyo Flea
Saturday, April 11th (12–5pm)
This looks like a fun stop if you’re nearby or want to make the drive and hit up a cool food spot for dinner. Our faves are always east side. Live music from the San Gabriel Valley Symphony with a Pokémon twist (my 6 year old is just now starting to become obsessed) plus all the usual Little Tokyo Flea energy.

📍 Whittier
Spring Festival at Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts
Saturday, April 11th (10am–2pm)
A classic community day with crafts, games, and family-friendly programming. Expect things like Paint-a-Pot, Plant-a-Seed, magic shows, face painting, and free popcorn and hot dogs.

📍 Los Feliz
Yuri’s Night at Griffith Observatory
Saturday, April 11th (12–10pm)
A full space day celebration at the Observatory with astronauts, scientists, and artists, plus immersive experiences and incredible views. Cool and interesting for both kids and parents. Plus it’s free and open to the public.

📍 Mid-Wilshire
Breakfast Club Cruise-In at Petersen Automotive Museum
Sunday, April 12th (9am–12pm)
A relaxed morning at the Petersen with rows of cool cars. My kids always love coming here and each visit feels different. For this event, there’s free coffee and bagels, plus a special guest appearance from Jeff Dunham. Wander the lot for free and head inside the museum if you want to make a full morning of it.

*These aren’t ALL the family-friendly events happening this week in and around LA, just the best (IMO). We keep it short and curated—follow on IG + TT for more!
